Remnant Tribe: a community app, taken over and rebuilt

WeRemnant Inc was paying overseas for an app that looked dated and did little. We took it over and rebuilt every part of it.

The starting point

An app the ministry had outgrown, on a bill nobody was watching.

WeRemnant Inc runs Remnant Tribe, a faith community app. The old version looked dated and did very little. Maintenance went to an overseas vendor that could not deliver the quality they needed. Nobody was tuning the AWS account, so the hosting bill kept growing.

What we did

Take it over, keep it running, then rebuild it properly.

    We took over the code and the AWS account, kept the old app running, and mapped how everything worked.

    Fixes and features reach members each month. We monitor the cloud account so it stays fast and lean.

The app is built with React Native and Expo from one codebase. Small fixes reach phones over the air, so members never wait on an app store review for them.
